Abdominals (Abs)

Why train the abs?

  • With strong abdominals and obliques, back pain can be eliminated in most cases.
  • When toned, they look fantastic!
  • Strong abs improve your posture and support your spine.

Do:

  • Train your obliques as well as your abs.
  • Keep constant tension on the abs throughout the movement.
  • Squeeze them at the top of each movement.
  • Use a variety of exercises to train all aspects of the muscle.
  • Remember your diet and cardio are key if you ever want your abs to show.
  • Train your abs and obliques at the end of your workout, or separately.

Don't:

  • Perform traditional sit-ups. They are useless.
  • Pull on your head or neck while training.
  • Bring your elbows in during crunches.
  • Rely on ineffective ab gadgets.
  • Train your abs every day.
