Seniors and Weight Training

    Am I too old to lift weights?
    Senior Golfer No! With your physician's approval, you will obtain the health benefits listed. Studies prove seniors into their 90's make strength gains and increase their bone density. My oldest client, at 72 years young, has improved his strength a greater percentage than a few of my clients in their 20's based on their relative beginning strength! The idea that older people must resign themselves to inactivitiy and frailty is old-fashioned. Recently, a study of people in their 80s and 90s showed that lifting light weights a few times a week increased their strength and agility, lowered their blood pressure, and lifted their spirits. I don't recommend the Mr. Trainer video series for people over age 65, unless they have been previously weight training. Check out these links:
