Hello Friends!
I need to answer a question that we get a lot: Is the Body for Life program compatible with the MrTrainer videos?
Yes. Almost every exercise used in the BFL program by Bill Phillips is demonstrated on the MrTrainer videos. Instead of just following the illustrations in his book, many people choose to watch my videos to make learning the exercises easier. It is difficult and time-consuming to learn proper exercise form using the pictures found in books and magazines, which is one of the many reasons I created the "Getting Started" series of videos.
We hope you enjoy this issue, and look forward to many new articles. Feel free to forward this issue to a friend.
P.S.:
I heard a Lowes TV commercial last week that said "protect your most valuable asset- your home." It made me think about what my most valuable asset really is- my health. Next time you are feeling really ill, see how concerned you are with your house, cars, etc.

MrTrainer's Tip
Does aerobic training significantly strengthen the muscles involved in the activity? For example, does running strengthen the leg muscles?
A regular program of aerobic exercise produces a great number of benefits which includes, but is not limited to, increased aerobic capacity (used when you climb a flight of stairs), and lowered bodyfat, cholesterol and blood pressure.
Strength gains, however, are not among the benefits of regular aerobic exercise. In fact, the leg muscles of elite distance runners have not been found to be much stronger than inactive individuals of similar age and gender.
Weight training provides the strength you need for activities of daily living, strengthens your bones, tones and tightens your muscles, and complements any body of any age!

Prescription errors and medication misuse have become a greater problem with the busy, fast-paced lifestyles of patients, and a medical system that is bulging at the seams. Furthermore, the availability of medications over the internet, and the use of supplements, compound the problems of medications being used without the supervision of a physician.
Drug-drug interactions can cause unpleasant side effects or fatal reactions, depending on the interaction. Many patients, especially the elderly, take multiple medications, and these have to be carefully monitored by a physician. Tell your doctor if you start a new prescribed or over-the-counter medication. Also, make sure you know the names, doses, and purposes of all the medications you take. "A little pink pill" tells your doctor nothing, and you may put yourself at risk for a serious interaction. Don't rely on other people or your medical chart to have an accurate list of your medications; some patients are cared for by several providers, and only you can keep your medication list accurate and up to date.
Supplements are being consumed at an alarming rate. Many patients will put up a fight to take a prescribed, FDA-approved medication from their doctor, and yet swallow bottles of unproven, mysterious supplements without any information about either safety or efficacy (effectiveness). "Buyer beware" is what a supplement user should live by. In most cases your doctor cannot know what effects supplements will have on either your health or other medications.
Try to have all prescriptions filled at the same pharmacy. This provides some degree of protection since computer programs can screen for drug-drug interactions or allergies. Always take medications as prescribed.

"MrTrainer has put together outstanding videos utilizing core body movements to build a healthier body. I recommend these videos to anyone who cares about their health, how they feel, and how they look." -- Joy Marchiondo, 1999 Ms.Fitness USA Competitor
"Two years ago I was an overweight, out of shape 50 year old woman. And I was depressed about it. I decided to join a health club and use the cardiovascular machines. My weight stayed stubbornly the same. Then I started your program and everything changed. I started working out 2 times a week and overnight I was hooked! The program taught me the proper technique and what NOT to do while exercising. Your knowledge and dedication made all the difference. In 6 months I lost 34 pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 10! My depression is gone and I feel like I can accomplish anything! I am in better shape than when I was 20! Thanks!" -- Laurie C.
"With this program you have a nice plan for us all to learn how to do the workouts correctly-not just once, but over and over. Even after hiring a personal trainer for a few sessions, it is easy to forget and do things the wrong way thereafter. This gives a good map for staying on track. Also-I like the extra benefits on the website for members."
