Do Fat Burners Work?
|
| |
Hello Friends!
I attended the Health and Fitness Business Convention this last week in Denver, C.O. to promote MrTrainer videos and stay updated on all of the latest trends. It was an exciting and educational time.
One of the highlights was meeting 3-time World's Strongest Man champion, Bill Kazmaier. You may have seen him on ESPN lifting cars over his shoulders or lifting boulders up onto a pedestal. After shaking his hand and worrying that mine might be crushed by accident, I told him about the videos and answered some questions he had. After he told me they sounded like a great idea, I thought about having him sponsor my videos, but then I realized he would scare most people away! I have a feeling that if his vehicle ever runs out of gas, he could carry it to the gas station. He's that big.
Have a fantastic week and stay fit!

| Fat Burners | | | MrTrainer's Tip
Fat burners promise to speed up metabolism and suppress appetite. Here are some pros and cons of the popular ephedrine/caffeine stack:
PROS
- Effective for appetite control
- Inexpensive
- Can add pep to your workouts
- Stimulates metabolism
CONS
- Initial rise in blood pressure
- May cause nausea, anxiety, irritability, and insomnia
- Content of the extracts may vary
Only ephedra has significant effects; yet this herb, also called ma huang, is a supplement that carries risks such as stroke and heart attack.
Although they may or may not work for you, it is important that you sift through the pros and cons to make an educated decision and to ask your doctor.
In conclusion, no supplement is effective without exercise, and that lasting results will only come from a healthy lifestyle. Remember, we are dedicated to helping you, so don't hesitate to contact us!

| Deep Vein Thrombosis | | | Doc Talk
A relatively common condition that affects all age groups is Deep Venous Thrombosis, or DVT. As the name implies, a blood clot (thrombus) can form in the deep veins of the legs or pelvis. This can lead to blockage of blood flow back to the heart, vein damage, and a risk for embolization. If the clot breaks off and travels (embolizes), it may travel to the lungs causing a potentially fatal condition called pulmonary embolism (PE). Contrary to popular belief, embolization of DVTs does not cause heart attacks or strokes.
Risk factors for DVT formation include prolonged immobility, leg trauma, cancer, surgery (especially orthopedic) to the legs, certain medications (such as estrogen or birth control pills), or a genetic tendency to form blood clots. The genetic tendency to form blood clots has become more appreciated as a cause of DVTs, and patients with "unexplained" DVTs are frequently found to have this. These genetic abnormalities can be detected by a simple blood test.
Symptoms of DVT include pain, redness and swelling of the affected leg, and this may mimic an infectious reaction. Pulmonary embolization tends to cause severe shortness of breath, chest pain, and low oxygen levels, but since these are non-specific symptoms, other problems need to be ruled-out as well.
Treatment of DVT or PE is with anticoagulants (blood thinners), first given as an IV infusion or injection, followed by months of oral anticoagulants.

| Did You Know? | | | Incense Trouble
- When incense is burned, it releases several types of known carcinogens such as benzene, toluene, and formaldehyde. The secondhand smoke that emits from incense is probably worse than that from cigarettes and cigars.
Running on Empty
- Doing cardiovascular workouts on an empty stomach is the single best way to burn maximum amounts of fat, say researchers at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Low muscle-glycogen stores trigger the body's fat-burning stove, and fat-burning enzymes work best in the morning, when your body is low on glucose after your overnight fast. The researchers also found that eating breakfast after working out increased glycogen production by 90 percent, which translates into more energy the rest of your day.

| Testimonials | | | "MrTrainer has put together outstanding videos utilizing core body movements to build a healthier body. I recommend these videos to anyone who cares about their health, how they feel, and how they look."
-- Joy Marchiondo, 1999 Ms.Fitness USA Competitor
"Two years ago I was an overweight, out of shape 50 year old woman. And I was depressed about it. I decided to join a health club and use the cardiovascular machines. My weight stayed stubbornly the same. Then I started your program and everything changed. I started working out 2 times a week and overnight I was hooked! The program taught me the proper technique and what NOT to do while exercising. Your knowledge and dedication made all the difference. In 6 months I lost 34 pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 10! My depression is gone and I feel like I can accomplish anything! I am in better shape than when I was 20! Thanks!"
-- Laurie C.
"With this program you have a nice plan for us all to learn how to do the workouts correctly-not just once, but over and over. Even after hiring a personal trainer for a few sessions, it is easy to forget and do things the wrong way thereafter. This gives a good map for staying on track. Also-I like the extra benefits on the website for members."
-- Caperton T.
